LAMS MUSIC

Grade 2

In Grade 2 music, we focus on two main topics: musical teamwork and musical composition. These two topics show how music can be a group activity designed to bring people together as well as a very personal activity where one can communicate their own emotions and ideas. We start the beginning of the year exploring community music from around the world and how this music can unite us as our own second grade community. We then shift from group music to individual music, listening to and moving to music composed and written down by one person (a composer!). We then become composers ourselves, creating and sharing our own rhythms.

For more information about what we learn in Grade 2, click on the Grade 2 Curriculum page. To find additional resources for music learning at home, click on the Grade 2 Resources page.
